Digital Imaging I – Weekly Posting 3 to present for class

I had to create a mood board and a customer profile for homework for my fashion product development class. Last week my class was learning about how it is important to understand who your consumer market is. Since I’m working on my yoga inspired hyper realism project in class I continued to feel inspired outside of class. I was inspired by the same theme but it was more of a graphic concept to express a mood of the season. The inspiration is based on chakras and how yoga can transform the body for Fall 2016. My customer profile was based on a young age range from 25-35 years old who is a single woman living in Brooklyn, NY. Her profession is in Marketing. As seasons transition, so does she because at this age people want to settle down, get married or even have children. She’s growing with new opportunities coming her way and she’s trying to make a better life for herself in one of the most toughest competitive cities in the world NYC. However, she’s not ready for that at the moment because she’s more focused on her career. She prefers being independent, and she’s enjoying life in the present moment.

The word Chakra (चक्र) derives from the Sanskrit word meaning “wheel,” as well as “circle” and “cycle”. It’s described by many as a spinning wheel of light. In yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda, this term refers to wheels of energy throughout the body. There are seven main chakras, which align the spine, starting from the base of the spine through to the crown of the head. To visualize a chakra in the body, imagine a swirling wheel of energy where matter and consciousness meet. This invisible energy, called Prana, is vital life force, which keeps us vibrant, healthy, and alive.

These swirling wheels of energy correspond to massive nerve centers in the body. Each of the seven main chakras contains bundles of nerves and major organs as well as our psychological, emotional, and spiritual states of being. Since everything is moving, it’s essential that our seven main chakras stay open, aligned, and fluid. If there is a blockage, energy cannot flow. Think of something as simple as your bathtub drain. If you allow too much hair to go into the drain, the bathtub will back up with water, stagnate and eventually bacteria and mold will grow. So is too with our bodies and the chakras. A bathtub is simple; it’s physical so the fix is easy.
